We build test benches for testing fuel cell and electrolysis stacks. In addition, we develop and build conditioning and dosing systems for hydrogen for combustion on the test benches. In close collaboration with the customer, we design test benches and offer open interfaces for automation solutions. With over 25 years of experience in test bench construction, automation, and control engineering, we are recognized experts in safety-critical applications—especially when it comes to handling hydrogen, oxygen, SIL monitoring, and on-site calibrations.

Test bench solutions

We develop, build, and maintain special test bench solutions and component test benches:

  • Fuel cell test facilities in the single cell range – 30 kW short stack
  • Electrolysis test benches 1–60 kW – 50 barg
  • Special test benches
  • Conversion of combustion engine test benches to hydrogen operation, including risk analysis

Conditioning

We build special systems for hybrid powertrains and aircraft engines according to our customers' specifications:

  • Bubbler for gas humidification up to 2 nlpm gas flow
  • Direct evaporation of metered water with tracked gas mixture up to 10 nlpm gas flow
  • Evaporation of metered and sprayed two-component gas-water mixture up to 200 nlpm gas flow
  • Steam dosing with tracked gas mixture up to 1000 nlpm gas flow
  • Electrolysis: analog level control in the working range 0–50 barg
  • Electrolysis: Gas dehumidification for downstream gas analysis

Monitoring

With decades of experience in test bench construction, automation, and control engineering, we take care of monitoring and calibrating the sensors:

  • Safety experts for hydrogen, oxygen, medium pressure, SIL monitoring
  • On-site calibrations with ISO 17025 reference devices for temperatures up to 100 °C, pressures up to 20 barg, and gas flows in the range of 20 nmlpm – 8000 nlpm

Automation

Together with our partner Tirron, we cover all relevant areas of automation:

  • Safety PLC design according to safety concept
  • Real-time PLC for controlling and monitoring control engineering processes
  • Customer-programmable controlled shutdown procedure that starts in the event of a test bench computer failure
  • LabVIEW-based HMI, with Python, TCPIP, and LabVIEW software API
  • Continuous storage of all parameters with ASCII data files
  • Test evaluation software for analyzing test data
  • Custom script programming for test sequences that can be programmed by the customer
  • Clear HMI with display of all actual and target values in the process image of the plant
